Gypsum False Ceiling

A false ceiling is a ceiling made beneath the main ceiling of the room or building. In other words, it is a second layer of roof suspended from the main roof with the help of metal or wooden frame. It is also known as dropped ceiling. False ceiling has multiple advantages. It improves the aesthetics of the room. False ceiling is provided to keep the room cool during summer and warm in winter. It is also provided to conceal the ugly mesh of electrical wires, light fixtures, air-conditioning ducts and other fixtures.

The false ceiling is fixed at a minimum distance of 4 inches from the main ceiling. False ceiling is made by various materials like Regular Gypsum board, Moisture resistant (MR) Gypsum Board, Bison board, calcium silicate board, Plywood, Natural wood and etc.

The choice of material depends upon the requirement and design of the false ceiling. Different materials have their own advantages and disadvantages. Few of them are discussed below.

Things you should think

1. Check the Feasibility Height Level

2. Pre-Plan

Pre-plan your lighting plan before the design finalizing. It may help you to choose the design with proper and enough lighting. Always try to choose the simple and straight line designs and try to avoid moldings.

3. For Large Spaces

If you have an adequate space, then you can go for double or triple level ceilings of unusual shapes and textures to make it more luxury.

4. Check the Strength

Generally, a false ceiling is lightweight and is not hard and strong. So, if you are planning on hanging pendant or chandelier lights or any other decorative lights, then before hanging them, you must check how much weight your false ceiling can support. For safety, it is recommended that you must install a piece of plywood just above the gypsum board of your false ceiling. This plywood will provide the false ceiling with required strength to hold the weight of an object.

5. Fan Rod

If you are planning to install a rod for ceiling fan, then it must be installed before construction of false ceiling, especially if you are going for gypsum or any other lightweight ceiling.

6. Swing Hook

If you are planning to hang heavy item like swing, then you should install a sturdy hook in the ceiling slab before creating the false ceiling so that it can hold up the weight of the swing plus the weight of the people who are going to sit on it.

7. Provide insulation

If your false ceiling is just under the roofing sheet or terrace of your building, then it is recommendable to place Glass wool, Rock wool, Synth wool and any other materials for insulation. These insulation materials will reduce the heat conductivity and make the room temperature lower than normal and save the energy of air conditioners.

Grid False Ceiling

Grid false ceiling is the high demand method of false ceiling in the modern interiors ,because of low cost and fast installation. The materials used for the grid false ceiling are mainly from recycled materials like synthetic, glass wool and natural minerals. There are different types of grid tiles available in many different sizes and thickness.

Grid ceiling are often referred to as 'dropped ceilings' or 2’*2’ ceiling. It’s been a common practice in varying types of building for many years. Typical buildings that use grid ceilings are

Grid ceilings are even popular in domestic use, particularly in kitchens and conservatories. The main benefit of a suspended ceiling is to provide a clean, smooth finish to the internal ceiling of a room, whilst hiding electrical wires, pipework and other services. The suspended ceiling still remains the most cost-effective solution to this problem and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

Acoustics

The ceiling can act as an effective sound barrier between floors, or with the use of sound absorbing tiles, can work very effectively at improving the general acoustics of a room.

Insulation

Simply installing a suspended ceiling, whereby the ceiling height within a room is reduced, will act as an effective means to 'trap' the warmer air within the room and reduce it being lost into the top of the ceiling.

Design / Aesthetics

The flexibility in styles and designs of a ceiling allow customers a wide choice of finishes to accommodate most requirements.

Light Reflection

Light reflection rate of the grid ceiling is comparatively higher than others.

Acoustical False Ceiling

We have a large number of acoustical ceiling materials to control the sound and noise. Ceiling tiles for dropping into your standard ceiling grid and ceiling tiles fixed directly into ceiling. We have ceiling tiles with high NRC ratings. Fabric covered tiles, acoustical foam tiles, metal tiles, Fiber glass wool tile, gypsum tiles and many more of our acoustic ceiling tiles are used in building construction to both maximize the quality of sound and appearance in your facility.

Wooden False Ceiling

Wood ceiling is, and will continue to be, one of the most popular options when finishing the interior design of a project. Regardless of the material used in the rest of the building (brick, glass, concrete, etc.), the size of the project (from skyscrapers to small single-family homes), and the use to be made of the rooms (offices, housing, public rooms, etc.), wood ceiling maintain his status as a versatile material that adds value to any architectural or interior design work.

These are the 5 main reasons why a wood ceiling is chosen in a project.

5 Main Reasons

1. They are Very Easy to Install

2. Acoustics

Wood is a porous material that functions as a natural acoustic absorbent. Wood ceilings fitted with wood acoustic panels with a perforated surface reinforce acoustic absorption capacity and become the perfect ally when controlling the acoustic reverberation and carrying out the acoustic conditioning of a room.

3. Thermal Isolation

Wood is a natural insulator and its use can help reduce the amount of energy needed to heat a space.

4. Ecological, Easy to Recycle and Biodegradable

Wood is a resource that is always available in nature as long as we take care of it and use wood from sustainably managed forests. Furthermore, it is easily recyclable and biodegradable.

5. Aesthetic

A wood ceiling bring warmth and elegance, and never go out of style. There are hundreds of models, designs and finishes so that all projects have the most suitable wood ceilings.

Baffle False Ceiling

Baffle ceilings are ideal for creating atmosphere within a room space. These open ceiling constructions allow a view to the plenum area and concrete ceiling above. They are particularly suited for remedial installation on concrete ceilings where a distinctive design or improvement to the acoustic sound is required. A sound baffle is a construction or device that reduces the strength (level) of airborne sound. Sound baffles are ideal for mitigating noise pollution and reverberating sound. Baffles can be used to improve the acoustics of concert halls, theatres, conference rooms and other spaces where sound quality is important.
